“TRAIN A CHILD IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO. AND WHEN HE IS OLD HE WILL NOT TURN FROM IT.” PROVERBS 22:6
The Austin Mar Thoma Church Sunday School operates under the guidelines of the Mar Thoma Sunday School, Diocese of North America and Europe. Sunday School classes are led by a group of very dedicated teachers. Our Sunday School is following the curriculum developed and published by the Mar Thoma Sunday School Diocese Council of North America and Europe and supplemental studies from the book, The Mar Thoma Church: Foundation and Vision.
Austin Mar Thoma Church Sunday School is part of the South West Region of the Mar Thoma Diocese of North America and Europe.
Currently, our Sunday school has around 33 students in 9 classes from Nursery through Grade 12, and classes are held every Sunday from 9:15 am to 10:30 am.
The Sunday School explores the Bible and studies how we can apply it to our lives today. Our teachers enlighten students with not only Biblical lessons, but also instill in them the loving nature of our God. The curriculum also focuses on the history of the Mar Thoma Church and the meaning behind its worship practices. Our diocese also holds an Annual exam for students. The exam is administered to those in 5th-10th grade.
Every summer, the Austin Mar Thoma Church Sunday School actively participates in VBS and the South West (SW) Regional competitions. The SW Regional competition prepares and encourages our children to develop their God given talents in singing, elocution and bible quiz. We secured first place overall in the South West Regional Sunday School competition in 2014, 2015 and 2016. We also actively participate in the World Sunday School Day program, several other Church events, Carol services, along with the Anniversary and Ecumenical programs.
Sunday school students and teachers also participate in various mission and charity programs throughout the year.
Please continue to pray for our Sunday School and its activities in your daily prayers. We thank you for your prayers and blessings!
With prayerful regards,
Austin Mar Thoma Sunday School Committee
